Rosin esters impart excellent specific adhesion to a wide range of substrates due to their polarity and polymer compatibility. Their low molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution, combined with their cycloaliphatic – aromatic structure, make rosin esters the most broadly compatible of all adhesive tackifiers. They are used in a wide range of polymers including high and low vinyl acetate EVA, acrylics, polyurethanes, SIS and SBS. Theses light colored, low odor resins are the right choice for premium hot melt adhesive applications. The aliphatic-aromatic nature of these resins gives them excellent adhesion to a range of substrates including polyolefins. Styrenated terpenes are highly compatible in EVA and SBC systems. Their biorenewable content is 85%.
SYLVATAC RE™ 25 is a viscous, liquid rosin ester tackifier designed for applications requiring a low softening point resin. It provides the compatibility of a rosin ester along with the ability to modify the softening points of other high softening point tackifiers. It is soluble in aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents, esters, ketones and chlorinated solvents.
SYLVATAC® RE 40 is a low softening point rosin ester with good stability and mild odor. Its polymer compatibility allows it to be used as a tackifier/plasticizer in many adhesive systems, particularly where better wetting or low temperature tack is required. It is soluble in aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents, esters, ketones and chlorinated solvents. This resin is readily emulsifiable for use in water-based systems.
SYLVATAC® RE 85 combines excellent adhesive performance with low odor and volatility. It is fully soluble in aromatics, esters and ketones. It is partially soluble in white spirit and insoluble in alcohols. SYLVATAC® RE 85 is compatible with most commonly used EVAs,waxes, natural rubber, SIS and SBS.
SYLVATAC® RE 98 is an economical pentaerythritol ester of tall oil resin. This resin is a broadly compatible tackifier for non-food contact hot melt EVA, waterborne and solvent borne acrylics, SBR, CSBR butyl rubber and polychloroprene polymers. It may be blended with other resins to adjust such physical properties as SAFT, modulus, open time, level of tack, reposition ability, and legginess. Soluble in aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents, esters, ketones and chlorinated solvents. Insoluble in alcohol and water.
