Catalyst 2134 is a solution of morpholinium-p-toluene sulphonate in 1-methoxy-2-propanol. It has been developed as a safer alternative to Catalyst S475, which contained ethylene glycol monoethyl ether (‘oxitol‘ or ‘cellosolve‘) as the solvent. As with S475, the primary use of Catalyst 2134 is as a catalyst, which permits a reduction of the stoving temperature, at which epoxy resin phenol- formaldehyde (PF) resins and epoxide resin Urea formaldehyde (UF) and epoxide/melamine formaldehyde (MF) resinol.
