Pharmaceuticals
Amberlite™ IRP70 is a strong acid cation exchange resin physically similar to IRP69 but with a modified cross-linking density, appearing as a fine, yellowish powder. It is primarily used in oral liquids and multi-dose suspensions as a highly effective taste-masking agent for highly bitter cationic actives. Its function is to sequester the drug within the resin matrix, preventing interaction with taste receptors. It provides excellent rheological properties to the suspension, preventing sedimentation. Recommended use levels depend on the specific drug's potency and ionic charge, but it is frequently incorporated at ratios of 1 to 3 parts resin per part of drug to achieve an effective taste barrier.
